Recognised Platforms: The idea of learning through the web may seem unusual at first however, this is second nature to your children. Students are constantly video calling and Facetiming so the thought of learning through video isn’t one that’s unfamiliar to them. If you’re concerned that there will be limitations with learning online, many channels allow tutors to view their tutees’ work, write on interactive whiteboards and share screens.
No Compromises: Perhaps the most beneficial factor of online tutoring is that it offers the same possibilities as learning in person. Using a webcam means that tutors can still see when a child is struggling and show enthusiasm and encouragement when they need it. Furthermore, you don’t need to compromise on the skillset of the teacher or whether or not your child gets along with them. You have the opportunity to find the perfect tutor for your child and ensure that they will always be available for your sessions.
Acquired Skills: One of the most beneficial factors that tutoring can offer your child is helping them to manage their workload and prioritise their time. Many children may feel put off the idea of tutoring because it takes up their personal time after school. This is true, but having a tutor when it’s needed means that everything you’ve learnt in those sessions can be applied to any homework, revision or assignments, making that task a lot quicker.
Ease and Flexibility: Not having to travel to your tutoring session means that you can allow more flexibility as to when your session is and who your session is with. You’re no longer constrained by your postcode and don’t have to take into account time for travelling, so your evening isn’t disrupted and you can still enjoy some down time.
Inspiring Confidence: In smaller groups, the informal atmosphere allows us to bring all pupils into the conversation, giving them the encouragement, they need to participate.
More Opportunities for Feedback: In smaller groups, feedback on work goes beyond grades or a score out of a total amount. Furthermore, in the more informal and relaxed environment, pupils will receive instant feedback on their ideas as they are contributing more to discussions.
People can be Patient: In small group settings, we are able to deviate from a less rigid plan and allow pupils to develop at their own pace.
Small Groups can Build Team Working Skills: The more intimate environment of a small learning group is also great for building teamwork skills. At SST, our small group size places the pupil in a situation where they have to be socially active, bringing both educational and social progress forward at the same time.
The sooner a pupil starts to revise, the better. In mainstream education, the time to teach the curriculum is limited and pupils are required to do a large proportion of their revision at home. By taking the time to go over subjects, again and again, the pupil’s confidence naturally grows. A tutor can offer various revision techniques to avoid cramming which causes stress and anxiety.
All children progress at a different rate. It can be difficult to determine the exact amount of time your child will need tutoring. You can discuss this in more detail with your Success Story Tuition tutor. We have some basic benchmarks that we use to give estimation. The best method is consistent and quality tuition.
Rate of improvement in grades is affected by many factors including the frequency of the tutoring sessions, how far behind the student might be when tuition commences, and the commitment of the student themselves. Quite often, early indicators such as increased confidence and a more positive attitude about school present themselves prior to increases in results.
Success Story Tuition study programme is progressive. Your child will be starting at a foundational level and will work their way up to the goal set. Each week their lesson plan contains new activities that build on the knowledge they learnt in the previous week. We reassess pupils towards the end of the programme OR when a child has potentially reached their goal.
Recommendations for tutoring will only be made if your child needs it. A personalised learning programme is created just for your child. Goals are set and agreed upon by both parties. Weekly tutoring sessions are booked in for a time that suits you best. One subject covered per tuition session. Simple enrolment process -
Yes, the Success Story Tuition Curriculum is aligned with the National Curriculum. Our objective is to help your child tackle problematic areas as well as to consolidate what they learn at school and become secure in subject areas they may be having difficulty with. Their learning with us will always be applicable to their studies at school.
Although Success Story Tuition does not provide dedicated support with homework set from schools, we aim to catch pupils up in their learning. We add some lesson activities during the session on topics your child is currently completing at school. This will ensure the pupil does not get further behind and also builds the child’s confidence to operate in the classroom environment. For additional support regarding school homework, contact your child’s tutor.
From experience, we know that the longer your child attends their Success Story Tuition tutoring, the greater the impact on results and learning confidence, however, we do understand there may be reasons to pause or withdraw from tutoring. If this is the case, please talk to your tutor or contact Success Story Tuition in writing. In general, Success Story Tuition requires a 2 WEEK written notice of your intention to withdraw from tutoring.
