- For group sessions, depending on the service type you require, children are generally matched according to their ability and need not necessarily their year groups. To put things into context, a child in year 3 might be working with a group of children in year 4 due to the high level he or she is functioning at. Similarly, a child in year 5 might be working with a group of year 4 children. This is either to build on their confidence with the extra support in place or fill in learning gaps. On a whole, all pupils are stretched regardless of their abilities.
- With Greater Depth children who are functioning at a much higher ability in comparison to their peers, we endeavour to challenge them even further. In most cases however, we suggest the 11 Plus route to the parents depending on the child's ability.
Even though we adopt the mastery approach, we strongly believe in securing our pupil's foundation before extending them. Sometimes, children may change group from time to time depending on the level of progress made. Our emphasis is in developing life long learners, focusing on the foundation in order to secure their learning.
- Our sessions are taught in blocks as one lesson lends itself to a follow up lesson. These blocks last between 5 to 6 weeks depending on the nature of the topic being covered or the ability of the children after which a different subject is introduced. These sessions are followed up with regular homework and activities, giving children the opportunity to consolidate skills learnt. In addition to each pupils personalised weekly revision timetable, we endeavour to upload regular bite size tutorials based on the topics being taught in order to support our pupils further.
- In Maths for instance, our focus will be on developing their understanding of basic core skills (+ − x ÷) in order to build up on their fluency depending on the group's need. This will then be followed by a mixture of problem solving sessions involving different topic areas such as money, fractions, time e.t.c where the learnt skills are then applied. On completion, a reading or a writing block commences, where the same pattern is applied.
Our sessions are engaging and interactive and regularly ignites our pupils’ curious minds, embedding learning in the process. Our teachers will ensure that children get the desired input they need during this unprecedented time, as we work together to keep children learning.
Home work:
This is given on a regular basis (mostly after every session). It is a great opportunity to consolidate and practise skills which have been taught. The deadline for homework submissions is on the Monday following your child's session. Work submitted after this deadline may not be acknowledged. Please note, all homework must be sent back to your child's tutor via email. For more information regarding this, please contact our help desk.
Registration:
- Your child takes an initial assessment. This is free for everyone. An initial assessment benchmarks your child's current level of progress, highlighting areas of strength and areas for development.
- Having decided to continue with our services, you will receive an email confirmation of your booking.
- Your membership is set up.
- A tailored programme is then setup for your child.
- Regular recognition rewards for children, reports and monthly progression feedback for parents.
All classes are held via Zoom, in which you will be required to log into at your scheduled class time once booking confirmation has been completed.
